This post is part of my reflection on an upcoming talk I’m giving at Douglas College about open pedagogy: “What’s Open about Open Pedagogy?” In my previous post I started collecting some examples of activities that people have put under the umbrella of open pedagogy. In an earlier post I collated a number of definitions of open pedagogy, and in my next post I plan to dig more deeply into what I think open pedagogy is and what might be “open” about it.

his post marks the official publication of the volume: Open Data as Open Educational Resources: Case studies of emerging practice. The process of developing this book was a learning experience for us. We had no prior experience in independent publishing, but instead of going the traditional route of attempting to find a professional publisher, in the spirit of openness, we decided to self publish, and to make the entire process as open as possible. The intention of this book is to showcase good practices in an approachable way that can be understood by those who are not necessarily very familiar with open data or data analysis, in order to promote the use of open data as OER to educators, researchers and other organisations.

If you read one thing this year - an inspirational set of slides from Gerry McKiernan which provide all you need to know to learn and keep up to date in new developments relating to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) . Hoghlights applications for Libraians but the blogs, websites and papers mentioned could be recommended to anyone. |
